About the Job

General Summary of Position
The incumbent in this position escorts patients and transports items between patient units and ancillary departments. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Obtains supplies/equipment/medications as needed from appropriate departments and transports to nursing units.
  • Obtains STAT medications from Pharmacy and delivers to nursing units.
  • Assists nursing staff getting patients into chairs/beds/stretchers and escorts/transports patients to and from ancillary departments.
  • Responds to all Codes as assigned to transport and obtain requests for supplies medications etc.
  • Transports specimens to appropriate laboratory.
  • Utilizes communication devices (bellboy walkie-talkie) to respond to requests for service and maintains all devices in proper working condition at all times.
  • Communicates appropriate information to patients staff and visitors.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients during all phases of transportation.
  • Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.

  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required or
    • the equivalent GED. required
    Experience
    • Previous hospital or patient care experience preferred
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.

    USD $19.30 - USD $19.30 /Hr.
