In this role, you will design and deliver robust software solutions that serve the evolving needs of members pursuing learning and career growth opportunities.</p> <p>We are looking to add a highly experienced Staff Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable navigating ambiguity. You will leverage your full-stack development experience and understanding of the rigors of enterprise SaaS solutions to quickly bring new product capabilities to life and iterate on them to satisfy market demand and scale in response to growth. Although you’re an expert in several front-end technologies, we expect you to be comfortable building anywhere within the full stack of web systems. You will collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to develop adaptable, high-impact systems that help our partners deliver seamless access to Guild’s education benefits and coaching services.</p> <p>As a <strong>Staff Engineer, </strong>you will:  </p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and own new user interfaces, services and infrastructure.</li> <li>Write clean, testable, and reusable code. Contribute to end-to-end development including testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and deployment, ensuring high availability and quality in releases.</li> <li>Lead by example in code quality, technical decision-making, and documentation practices. Create and contribute to design documents, architecture decision records (ADRs), and technical discussions that communicate trade-offs clearly.</li> <li>Work closely with product managers, designers, operations teams, and external client technical teams to translate business requirements into effective engineering solutions. Contribute to planning, estimation, and execution of product roadmap items.</li> <li>Use operational data such as logs, metrics, and user feedback to identify and implement enhancements in performance, reliability, and developer velocity. Take ownership of resolving issues and driving root cause analysis and sustainability.</li> <li>Improve internal development processes, tools, and workflows to enhance code quality, speed of delivery, and system security.</li> <li>Lead engineering efforts, sharing knowledge and feedback both inside and outside your team.</li> <li>Elevate the 4 other engineers on the team through mentoring and guidance.</li> </ul> <p><strong>You are a strong fit for this role if you have: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Excellent cross-team communication and collaboration skills, especially in a distributed working environment </li> <li>Expertise in several (or all!) of these tools and technologies: Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and GraphQL </li> <li>Expertise building and owning multiple services and user interfaces - data modeling, unit and integration testing, application monitoring, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).</li> <li>Expertise with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure, DigitalOcean), database technologies (Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL), and modern source control (Git / Github).</li> <li>Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar;</li> <li>Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI) and building AI-powered features, including assistants, summarization, RAG workflows, or vector search </li> <li>Demonstrated curiosity and interest in keeping up and experimenting with new technologies.</li> </ul> <p><em style="color: #1d1c1d; background-color: #ffffff;">We are committed to equal pay for equal work and believe in compensation transparency. All salary ranges are standardized nationwide and will not vary by region. This role offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary of $161,000 - 215,000 and stock options.
