Join us in building the autopilot for legal services

Today, legal work is done the way it has been done for a century — manually, by humans, in six-minute increments. Every contract drafted from scratch. Every memo researched line by line. Every matter running through layers of review that someone is paying for at hundreds of dollars an hour.

That is about to change. We believe that in five years, more than 80% of legal work will pass through a model before it ever reaches a human. The implication is not faster lawyers — it is a fundamentally different way that legal services get bought and procured.

Our mission is to make high-quality legal work accessible and affordable for everyone. We are going after the services spend, not the software spend — helping law firms restructure their delivery model around AI, and helping in-house teams do the same. One engine of agents and workflows underneath every matter we touch.

We are a lean, in-person based in New York City, backed by leading investors and growing fast. Every role at August is a chance to remake an industry while the window is open.

The Opportunity

We are looking for someone who wants to work on a problem that matters. Not optimize a funnel. Not manage a pipeline. Work on a problem that actually matters — how AI gets adopted inside law firms and legal teams at scale, and what it takes to make that change stick.

The Special Projects Lead sits at the intersection of growth, strategy, and deployment. You will own the entire motion from first conversation to live workflows — helping clients understand what is possible, demonstrating the product, driving the deal, and staying accountable to outcomes long after the contract is signed. This is not a role for someone who wants to hand off and move on.

You will work directly with the founders, operate across every function — sales, customer success, and go-to-market — and shape the playbook for how August expands across India and beyond. The team is expanding massively, and the people who join now will define how we operate at scale. If you are energized by complexity, thrive in ambiguous environments, and want to see your work change how a profession operates, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Meet with partners, senior counsel, and in-house legal teams to understand their most critical workflows and where they're losing time

Lead product demonstrations and translate what you're seeing in the field into compelling cases for adoption

Own deals end-to-end — from first conversation through commercial close

Drive customer success post-deployment, ensuring the product creates real impact on day-to-day legal operations

Lead training sessions, workflow design, and ongoing check-ins as clients expand to new practice groups and teams

Represent August at conferences, industry events, and client sites across India (significant travel required)

Work with the product and engineering teams to shape how field insights get built into August

Scope new client opportunities across practice areas, firm sizes, and geographies

What You'll Bring

Significant experience at a tier 1 Indian law firm, ideally exceeding 4 years of post-qualification experience

A track record of navigating complex, multi-stakeholder relationships and driving decisions through to outcomes

Strong commercial instincts — you can quickly understand a client's business, identify the highest-leverage opportunities, and build a clear path forward

Comfort working without a defined playbook and the judgment to build one from scratch

The ability to communicate clearly across audiences — from associates to managing partners to in-house leadership

Willingness and enthusiasm for significant travel

Nice to Have

Prior exposure to legal operations, legal tech, or professional services.
